Packing Materials
Whether you are moving yourself or just prefer to do your own packing, buy your materials from us. We can supply a comprehensive collection of packing materials for your use.
If you're doing your own packing before moving day, you will need the right materials to do the job properly. Supermarket cast-offs and old newspapers are not recommended for your precious household possessions! To make life simpler we have put together some of the packing materials you will find most useful.
Packing china, glass and other household items needs time, patience and properly designed protective materials! The bottom often falls out of supermarket cartons, newsprint leaves black stains and clothes travel better on rails.
All these products are of consistent quality and have been designed specifically for household removals - you can't do better than use the same packing materials as the professionals!
Boxes
These come in various sizes - The most popular are 18"x18"x20" - for normal household items, china, glass, small objects and 18"x13"x13" - for books, LPs/CDs, videos or fragile items.
Wardrobe Cartons
These are tremendous items to have - even when you're not moving! Made of heavy duty (recyclable) board these sturdy wardrobes have a metal 18" hanging rail locked-in capable of holding suits, jackets, dresses and similar clothes. They help keep your clothes in better shape than packing them flat.
Mattress Covers
Mattress Covers are giant polythene bags that keep mattresses free from dust and rain during the move. They also prevent the mattress from getting caught or snagged on picture hooks.
Utility Bags
Utility Bags are strong, white polythene bags. The colour means that they are easy to spot and cannot be confused with refuse sacks. They are ideal for bulky linen, such as duvets and bedding. Since they can be seen easily, finding bedding for making the beds on that first evening becomes much easier.
White Paper
White Paper is ideal for wrapping china, glassware, utensils or simply for lining boxes. Using newspaper is not a good idea as you are likely to end up with yourself and your belongings covered in black newsprint, meaning you’ll spend the first three days at your new house washing up! Use clean White Paper to avoid this!
Adhesive Tape
Adhesive Tape comes in standard rolls and is used for sealing boxes, taping utility bags and mattress covers or bubble wrap.
Bubble Wrap
Bubble Wrap provides extra protection for pictures, mirrors, lamps and fragile items. Do not use Bubble Wrap on polished surfaces - you’ll end up with lots of circular patterns on your furniture! Use Paper Blankets instead.
Paper Blankets
Paper Blankets are strong but soft four-ply large sheets of paper. The middle two pieces being corrugated paper, with the inside sheet (placed next to the furniture) being very soft, to prevent any marks. These are great for protecting furniture and anything else that needs extra cushioning.
